visual ethics

Posted 10/28/2008 - 20:16 by knashert

We found this graph to be ethical for many reasons. First, we are using a simple bar graph with normal margins, so there is no deception involved in the graph at all. There is no chart junk involved with the graph, so there is nothing to clutter the reading. We didn't use picture graphs because we wanted to make sure that we didn't misrepresent our data in any way, as this would be unethical. We are not trying to "sugar-coat" anything. We tried to keep everything really simple, and tried to avoid any type of confusion.

Luntz

In the activity we did in class with the Tree House company's market analysis and strategy, I noticed that they applied some of the rules that Luntz had pointed out. First, they use a lot of numbers which represents proof that they have a very good idea of what they are doing and where they want their company to be. Their Market A & S is very easy to understand, and there is little confusion with any of the messages they are trying to get across.

Business Plan

For this assignment, I chose the book From Selling to Serving, by Lou Cassara. Although it is not an exact guideline for how to write a business plan, I believe that the ideas and points are crucial for one to understand if they want to start their own business. I think that it would be very beneficial for everyone in the class to read this book in order to better understand the business world. If you want to start a successful business, you must be able to sell your idea. If you cannot sell your idea, no matter how good it is, you won't accomplish anything.

Resume Response

Posted 09/18/2008 - 18:32 by knashert

To be completely honest, I was taught at a young age how to write a good resume, and most of what this writer had to say I already knew. I thought that it was common sense that you don't want to be writing long paragraphs of information about yourself on your resume. Anybody that thinks that is a good idea must have half a brain. This article really doesn't reposition my thoughts at all about creating an effective resume.
